A Quick Note: Hurray for Spring!

Today is the spring equinox (at least in the Northern Hemisphere). That means that the day and night are now equal, and we are moving into the warm, brightly lit portion of the year. For those of us who find winter to be a tad demoralizing, this is fantastic news! It means that we can expect to be feeling much better, if not now then at least very soon. If you live in one of the many areas currently experiencing record high temperatures, I urge you to get outside to enjoy the weather. It’s a rare treat for spring to come upon us this quickly, so I suggest that all of you seasonal sadness sufferers take advantage of it! But don’t beat yourself up if you aren’t feeling great yet – the major factor in seasonal sadness is the light, not the warmth, which means that warm weather is not in and of itself going to boost your mood. But now that we are getting more direct sunlight (yay for sunlight!), the warm weather will allow you to start soaking up the rays sooner than expected.

Note: wear sunblock while basking in the sun. Seriously. While you may need to absorb sunlight through the skin for vitamin D, it’s your eyes that need to take in the light to lift your mood.
